Seedhouse redesigned not one, but two packaging designs after the brands were featured on Shark Tank. ABC’s hit reality business tv show, Shark Tank, gives entrepreneurs the chance to pitch to potentially receive funding from one or more of the investor judges and to potentially become millionaires themselves. Seedhouse had the distinct pleasure of working with two Shark Tank brands – Jackson’s Chips and most recently, Long Table Pancakes. We congratulate Long Table Pancakes on their recent launch.

The Shark Tank Publicity Bump
Getting your application chosen on Shark Tank results in a real bump. Whether or not you receive funding, if your segment makes it into an episode, you are guaranteed what amounts to a free 10-minute national commercial. Shark Tank producers essentially distill the brand’s whole offering down to 10 minutes and offer it up to American viewers. Ultimately, the question as an entrepreneur becomes—how do you best capitalize on the windfall of that national press?

Packaging Redesign After Shark Tank
With the renewed energy and sales bump that comes with Shark Tank, brands are better positioned to work with a firm like Seedhouse to take them to the next level and stage of the their business. For both Jackson’s Chips and Long Table Pancakes, the companies decided to take advantage of their new traffic and attention via a rebrand and packaging redesign. While these two companies came to the same decision, they gratefully chose to partner with Seedhouse to do those rebrand/redesigns for two separate reasons. But the Seedhouse process followed a similar path.

Leveraging the Shark Tank Segment
Initially, Seedhouse approached both projects by understanding the messaging priorities. Then we did a competitive audit to understand the competitive market and honed in on the target customer. Finally, we synthesized that data to find the right positioning for the brands. Once we understood what the brands stood for, we moved on to figuring out how the brands came to life visually and how those brand messages telegraphed through the identity and packaging design. Long Table Pancakes Rebrand & Packaging Design Process
Not only does Long Table Pancakes make great pancake mixes, they are stellar human beings and friends. The founders’, Samuel Taylor and Lindsey Whiting, charming personalities and performance background really made their Shark Tank segment shine. If you have ten minutes, we highly recommend watching the Long Table Shark Tank segment as you’ll see circus tricks, David Schwimmer and a popcorn flour explosion!
Long Table is a brand with a ton of stories—which is what Shark Mark Cuban dinged them on. So when Seedhouse won the chance to work with Long Table, we found the perfect whimsical illustrated design to highlight and clarify all of the brand stories—including handing down good food, being founded as a love letter to an acrobat and regenerative agriculture. We’re thrilled with how it came out. To read more about the Long Table redesign check out the Nosh and Specialty Retailer articles.
