Westminster Bakers Co.

Baking real history into the brand

Growing beyond heritage

Westminster Bakers Co. has a colorful history and craft tradition, which are even more meaningful in today’s fast fashion, quick consumption-focused world.

Our packaging and identity design manages to elevate the brand while still preserving the regional devotion and history. Brands with such large SKU counts require thoughtful designs that do more than stand out on crowded shelves. We built an elaborate, rigorous design system that accounts for a variety of shapes, formats and sub-brands, while still maintaining the overarching brand equity.

Value creation: like so many of our projects, this started as a simple brand & packaging redesign to just 4 SKUs, but later grew into updating 4 different brands and approx 900 packages. It demonstrates the value we bring to brand owners; sound thinking, good resources and compelling packaging design.

It’s not often that you get to refresh a brand that’s been around since 1828. So we started by collaborating with the Westminster Historical Society to find photos of the first factory – when it was horse powered. Those images eventually made it onto the back panel to help visually tell the story of the brand.
